Employment Opportunities
This is a great place to work. We're always looking for solid musicians with good chops, players/singers who are hip, personable, reliable, teachable, and pretty humble. Hey, for a musician to have that much together is pretty unusual! That's just who we're looking for, though. If you're looking for a reliable place to put down roots and put bread on the table, you've found it. A place where you can excel in your music and help other people excel in theirs, among kindred professionals with a philosophy of long-term excellence. Previous teaching experience is not required, we'll train you. If you have taught in the past, be aware that you will have to learn and use our methods in teaching AND you have to be motivated to help every student grow, not just baby-sit warm bodies in a chair for a check.
Instrumentalists and vocalists from all backgrounds and styles are welcome. Degrees are wonderful, but not required. 10 years of playing or singing experience is required, unless you are a truly amazing individual. While music reading is very useful, it is not required of our guitar, voice, and bass instructor at the time of their interview. However, our instructor in these areas will learn to read well and understand music theory immediately upon hiring. A Woodwind instructor must be skilled, solid readers (not necessarily great sight-readers, though). A commitment to reading and understanding music, to a systematic approach of practicing, teaching, and mastering the art of music. A Guitar instructor must be able to play both rhythm and lead, acoustic and electric, in multiple styles. A Voice instructor must sing pop styles authentically and well. Our instructor must play many, but not all, styles of music - not just classical or jazz. Specialties are also welcome. In the hiring process all prospective instructors must perform a 2 to 3 hour audition, undergo 3 interviews, and sign a contract. Before hiring we'll do a background check on you and you'll have to provide 3 letters of recommendation.
If you feel you are qualified and you're interested in our studios, please email your resume or biographical information to employment@dallasmusiclessons.com. All correspondence at this level of contact will be by email. Please feel free to include any questions you might have. Good luck.
